Lantry Lady looked a mare of some promise when making an impressive racecourse debut in the Best Of Luck To The Irish At Cheltenham Mares Maiden Hurdle at Gowran Park.

Out of a half-sister to Annie Power, the Henry De Bromhead trained five-year-old always travelled strongly under Rachael Blackmore before arriving full of running approaching the second last flight. As soon as Blackmore asked the mare to go win her race the response was instant.

Quickening away to put daylight between herself and her rivals, she looked a mare that should improve with racing and potentially hold her own at a higher level.

“I'm delighted for the Marigas who are great supporters of ours,” said de Bromhead.

“Michael Moore bought her in France for them and she looks a really nice mare.

“She had been working nicely but in my normal pessimistic way I was telling them that I thought she'd need the run. She was very professional, Rachael was brilliant on her and I'm delighted with her.

“She has a massive pedigree, the guys have some gorgeous mares at home and she was bought to add to their band.”
