Landline gained a third career win in the BBQ & Music Evenings Handicap at Naas this evening as the Tom Cleary trained gelding gained a narrow win under recent Royal Ascot winner jockey Bill Lee.
The son of Vocalised gained two wins last year and today got off the mark at the fourth attempt this year when beating Mr Shelby by a neck.
Afterwards Cleary stated “I have only four riding out at the moment so for two of them to win isn't too bad.
“He had a good run over five here last time. The last day we weren't sure what he'd be like on the quick ground, as both of his wins before this were on heavy.
“He came out of it well the last day and his legs were cool and everything so we said we'd give him a chance over the six and it worked well for him.
“Billy gave him a great ride as well and timed it very well. I suppose we were kind of confident but we still had the fear of the ground coming here today but luckily enough it worked out.
“While we have this weather we might get another one into him.
“I had him entered for five again tomorrow but I wouldn't chance that. Whatever comes first (five or six) we'll probably go for.
“He will improve from that again. He has improved a lot in a week and I'd expect he will improve again.”
