Gordon Elliott and Danny Gilligan doubled up at Down Royal with Cher Tara in the two and a-half mile handicap hurdle.

The six-year-old mare was making her second start for Elliott having raced seven times in Britain for Dan Skelton.

She raced in mid-division and was ridden to challenge before the penultimate flight. She soon came through to dispute the lead and led narrowly before the last. Gilligan sent the 7/1 chance on by a length and a-quarter on the run-in. Le Bugiste (20/1) took the runner-up berth and was half a length in front of Ar Nos Na Gaoithe (13/2).

Gilligan said: ""She's a lovely filly that I think the step up to two and a-half really suited, and that bit of nicer ground.

"Hopefully, there will be a bit of fun to be had with her for the summer."
