Connor King completed a 164/1 Gowran double as he partnered Pullman Brown to a surprise 20/1 win in the last, the gowranpark.ie Rated Race (earlier successful on Newsman .
The David Marnane trained three-year-old won at Tipperary and Leopardstown earlier this season and was thirteenth of twenty-one in the competitive 'Northfields' handicap at the Curragh last weekend.
Sent off at 20/1 today he was settled in mid-division and made good progress to track the leaders early in the straight.
He was pushed along to lead inside the final furlong and he kept on well from there to score convincingly by three and a half lengths. Vale Do Sol finished second under Colin Keane for Ger Lyons at 9/1 (from 11's) while Queen Of Alba (10/1 to 7/1 on-course) was a further length and a quarter back in third under Rory Cleary for his father Tom. Barnacle Bill was sent off the 5/2 favourite but he ran no sort of race and finished a distant last under Fran Berry for Jessica Harrington.
David Marnane said afterwards: "He won well. He's going to the sales later on and he's an exciting horse - he's a very good horse.
"We might chance him in the November Handicap at Naas. We like him a lot and things haven't panned out for him.
"He got too far back the last day and I thought he was unlucky. His brother is a Grade 1 winner in the US and he only got going when he was four. We think he's the same.
"He's starting to settle and relax in his races and do things the right way.
"He's part of a syndicate that's going to go back to the sales. I'd love to keep him in the yard."
