Escaping Thejungle enjoyed an all-the-way success in the Byrne Marquees Handicap over an extended five furlongs in Bellewstown.

Trained locally by Eamon Delany, the 5/2 favourite quickened right away from her rivals in the final furlong to sail in by two and three-quarter lengths. Inishmot Prince (13/2) filled the runner-up berth, a neck in front of Rathbranchurch (7/2).

She brought up a double for Colin Keane who was also on Gandolfo in the opening optional claiming maiden.

Owner Alan Delany said: "She came back from a little upset last year and we did pick this out back a little while ago.

"She has been improving every time and coming down a bit in the weights.

"Laytown brought her on brilliantly. I said to Jordan (Gainford) that she would lead at the 100 (yard) mark, but she just might not get home. He was in front at the 100 mark and she just got swallowed up a little bit (fourth).

"She's a tough nut. She's freewheeling there, she just pops out and away she goes. There's no instructions.

"It is lovely to have Colin (Keane) ride a winner for us.

"They are the oldest active colours in the Turf Club."
