There were plenty of bets landed on Juara in Tipperary’s mile and six handicap.
Anthony Mulholland’s four-year-old filly was 16/1 this morning and opened on course at 12s before being hammered down to 7/1 on the off. Zemario led and came wide into the straight, but as Michael Hussey started to exercise his arms on the leader Juara readily came through and picked him off from over a furlong out.
Zemario beat a retreat in finishing fourth as Juara, ridden by John Egan, galloped resolutely to the line to come home two lengths to the good. Oneeightofamile (14/1) grabbed second. He was four and three quarter lengths in front of uneasy 10/3 favourite Roisin Dubh She opened at 2/1 at the track.
“Johnny gave her a very good ride. A mile and six was a very good help for her. She wants a trip and even a mile and a half in Dundalk isn’t far enough for her,” Anthony Mulholland said.
There was an on course plunge on Feile Bride (8/1 to 7/2), but once she was headed after halfway she weakened to finish last of the 13 runners.
