The Ken Condon trained Japelli justified favouritism (100/30 – 5/2f) in the Costello Tavern Handicap at Tipperary today, providing winning jockey teenager Ross Coakley with his eighth career.
Coakley moved the daughter of Selkirk to the front at the two pole and the pair stayed on well for a length and a quarter success over Red Sea Poll
Afterwards Condon stated “Japeli seems to be saving a bit for herself so hopefully there is another little handicap in her. She went up 4lbs for her last effort (second here) and Ross' claim was useful to her today.”
“She has a few entires next week and might run at Killarney over a mile.”
