The 6/4 favourite Delphi was a convincing all-the-way winner of the Listed Nijinsky Stakes in the hands of Wayne Lordan.
The jockey adopted the front-running tactics that had worked well at Navan on his previous outing, and the Galileo colt was pursued by stablemate Numen throughout.
Neither that one, nor his other four rivals, could get close to him in the straight as he galloped on strongly to score by four and a quarter lengths.
Well beaten on his only start at two, blinkers were applied by Aidan O’Brien for his reappearance run at the Curragh and they seem to have worked very well, with this first win at Stakes level completing a hat-trick of victories within three weeks.
The winning rider Lordan observed: “He's straight-forward and he won from the front the last day so I was happy to go along.
“I was confident he was going to get the mile-and-a-half. He doesn't kill himself so you never know how much is actually in there.
“He's on an upward curve and hopefully he can keep going that way.”
When asked if he would get further he added:- “I don't know if he needs to. We'll keep going (at this trip) until we have to.”
