Hurricane Cass gave Tommy Stack and Wayne Lordan a winner at Dundalk in the extended mile and two median auction maiden for three-year-old colts and geldings.

The 2/1 favourite came five wide at the two pole having found his path blocked just before then. Under a drive from Lordan he came through to pick off Blue Skimmer close home and win by three parts of a length.

The runnr-up was returned at 10/1. Vale Do Sol kept on well and was doing his best work at the finish as he came home third, beaten a length and three quarters by the winner.

"He had a nice run the first day and came here for some nice ground. He handled the surface well," said Wayne Lordan.

"He'll go a mile-and-a-half and is a nice type."

As a two-year-old Hurricane Cass was eighth in a Curragh maiden won by Portage in September.
