Henry de Bromhead, out of luck earlier at Clonmel when Little Folke was demoted from first place following a stewards’ enquiry in the maiden hurdle, enjoyed better fortune as Heron Heights recorded an impressive victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Captain Christy Rated Novice Chase.
Little Folke’s rider Davy Russell gave up his remaining mounts in protest at the stewards’ decision including Swantykay who was one of four virtually in line when falling at the penultimate fence of this three-mile event.
Heron Heights was travelling well at the time and quickly settled the issue by asserting before the last.
Phillip Enright had an easy time on the run-in as the seven-year-old kept on strongly to beat Duckweed by eight and a half lengths. New Kid In Town could find no extra after the second last, and the 6/4 favourite finished another five lengths adrift in third.
Enright said, "He settled very well and jumped brilliant, like all of Henry's do. He quickened up very well from the back of the second last and did it well."
