Headford continues winning ways
Headford Lady rewarded connections for some consistent recent form when completing a double at Roscommon today, winning the Athlone Handicap under leading apprentice jockey Ben Curtis.
The daughter of Bold Fact, a winner last time out at Listowel following three runner-up efforts, made solid progress on the outer in the straight to eventually hit the front under a furlong out, for a two lengths win.
Afterwards Dunderry, Co Meath based winning trainer James Halpin stated “Headford Lady deserved that win again as it took her one year to come right following a problem she had last season. The plan was to come late and hopefully we’ll find another handicap before the end of the season.”
The win moves Leading Apprentice Jockey Curtis onto the 31 winner mark for the season, one ahead of last year’s winner Gary Carroll and six ahead of Joseph O’Brien.
