The Birdie Crowe finished with a flourish in Punchestown to take the bumper for Jessica and Kate Harrington.
She was fifth a furlong out but was soon switched to the inner rail when third and came through to overhaul Triolet (25/1) by three parts of a length close home. Broken Soul 3/1 joint favourite, was a close-up third. He was beaten a length and a quarter by the 8/1 winner (backed in from 10s).
“It's a Leigh family horse so it's absolutely fantastic and it's great for them,” Jessica Harrington said.
“She just got bogged down in Navan. I was a bit worried the ground would be a bit quick today.”
This gave Jessica Harrington a Punchestown double as she won the two mile handicap chase with Mr Fiftyone
The Stewards enquired from the riders involved into an incident approximately two and half furlongs out involving Mount Tamborine ridden by Miss K.J. Harrison, Play The Part ridden by Mr K.E. Power and Shine In Dubai ridden by Mr T.N. Brett, where it appeared Shine In Dubai slipped up and brought down Mount Tamborine and Play The Part. Miss K. J Harrison reported that a horse slipped up in front of her and she was brought down. Mr K.E. Power reported that a horse slipped up and slid across his path bringing him down. Mr T.N. Brett did not make a report as he was being attended to for his injuries.
Tom Brett suffered the fall from Shine In Dubai. Afterwards, the racecourse doctor on duty - Bernard Healy - advised that Brett was being treated as having potential head and chest injuries. He also said that Brett was conscious, coherent and breathing normally and didn't lose consciousness.
