Broomfield Hall produced a fine front-running performance to gained a deserved victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle at Naas.

Philip Dempsey's charge had been pulled up on listed company last time out but had been knocking on the door previously with five placed efforts over timber.

Luke Dempsey sent his mount straight to the front in today's two-miler and asked her for an effort going to the second last.

The daughter of Jeremy skipped a few lengths clear before the final flight and the 6/4 shot galloped on strongly to post a three length winning margin over 6/5 favourite Take Tea

“She deserved that and it’s great that she has won a maiden,” said the winning trainer.

“It’s a bit lesser race than she has been running in and the better ground probably helped as well.

“It might be a little bit short for her and I was afraid turning in that they might swallow her up. Luke changed the plan but he got his fractions right.

“She might go to Punchestown for a handicap and hopefully she’ll be a nice mare to go chasing with next year.”
