Gudnis Gracious Me caused something of an upset when landing the Roscommon On-Course Vets Handicap Chase at odds of 14/1.

The 2m5f event was run at a cracking pace with Save My Blushes going a strong gallop.

However he was a spent force by four out and it was The Lady Granuaile (9/1) who made a bold bid from early in the straight.

Sean McDermott and Goodness Gracious Me reeled her in just before the final fence, and the Mull Of Kintyre mare was driven out to hold the renewed effort of that rival by half a length.

The pair drew 15 lengths clear of Jakros (6/1) in third.

Philip Enright suffered a suspected fractured right collar-bone after a fall from the prominent Kilcommon Pride at the second last.

Winning trainer Michael Butler said, “It wasn’t a great contest but she stayed on well to win. The rest of them must have stopped! I thought she was caught on the line.

“She will go to Thurles in three weeks’ time for a mares chase.”
