Giant's Quest was put up by some of the best judges around and the son of Giant's Causeway didn't disappoint under Pat Smullen in the Matthew.ie Handicap (of course the same firm sponsor the big International greyhound race tonight) at Dundalk.
Once the clear pace-setter Musawama was reeled in, it was always looking good for the Harry Rogers-trained Giant's Quest and he went on to beat Kalann by two and a quarter lengths.
Rogers reported: "He got his ground – he wants it quick. He had the right man on his back too."
The local handler then reflected: "He's been unlucky. We had to take him out of races when the ground wasn't quick enough."
On future plans Rogers stated: "He's in again at Killarney in a two mile six hurdle and he'll go there if the ground is quick.
"He's a good tough horse for three miles over hurdles if we get quick ground.
"He was sixth in the Cesarewitch last year (at the Curragh last October) when he didn't get the run of the race. That's his main aim for this year." (MG & EM)
