Despite proving friendless with punters Aminabad justified favouritism in the opener at Wexford, the Supporters Club AGM Maiden Hurdle, scoring under Ruby Walsh for Willie Mullins and Gigginstown House Stud.

The four-year-old son of Singspiel won two bumpers last season and he opened at 4/11 this morning to make a winning debut over hurdles.

He started on-course at 4/7 and drifted out to even money at the off.

Settled in mid-division he was third before three out and got a great run through on the inner to challenge after the last.

He hit the front over a furlong out and kept on well once ridden, going on to score by a length and a quarter. Domesday Book finished second at 9/2 (from 6's) under Jonathan Burke for Henry De Bromhead while newcomer Tombstone (8/1) ran a fine race to finish third, a further length and three parts back under Kevin Sexton for Gordon Elliott.

Ruby Walsh said afterwards: "He jumped like a buck. I'd say two mile two is probably far enough for him. He will go back in trip rather than up I'd imagine. I got a great run through on him."
