Peace N' Milan was a strongly invested upon 11/8 favourite to follow up on her win from last Saturday at Fairyhouse in the Carrick-On-Suir (Mares) Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel. She duly delivered Fran Flood a second winner with a training licence in his own right, in race three at Powerstown Park.
Ricky Doyle 's mount wasn't without flaw in the jumping department five days ago and here she 'missed' the second last as well.
At that stage she was ranging up beside another in-form mare, Zipporah she took that one's measure at the last, before going on for a three and three parts of a length verdict.
"It didn't look on paper a real strong race. Zipporah had got a good hike like ourselves and to have the 4lb (in hand) was a help. She needed the 7lb claim today more than the last day," said Flood.
"We wanted to jump out with them, get her going a gallop and then let her lead us. It worked like we thought it might but it doesn't always happen like that.
"We'll aim for something in a few weeks time. There is a race in Naas (March 12) but it probably comes a bit quick. We'll see how she is but she is tough and likes that ground."
Owner/breeder Leonard Kelly is from Warrenpoint.
The Stewards fined Miss Elizabeth Doyle, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of One Can Cally in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
