The Eamonn Delany-trained Yaha Fizz produced a fine front-running performance to spring a 33/1 shock in the rated novice chase at Punchestown.
Ryan Treacy bounced out in front on the Zagreb gelding and he soon had a substantial lead.
1/3 shot Zero Ten who had been chasing the front-runner, crashed out the fourth last.
Yaha Fizz pecked at the penultimate fence and looked like he might come back to his pursuers turning in but Treacy got a good tune out of his mount to keep him going in the closing stages.
The ten-year-old found plenty from the back of the last to post a 15-length success over Early Doors
The winner had finished mid-division over hurdles at Navan on his last outing and Alan Delany (part-owner and son of trainer Eamonn) said afterwards:-
“That’s his ground. We were quite happy with his run the last day in Navan but he probably doesn’t get that trip (2m4f).
“We schooled him last Saturday and he jumped great. We still had faith in him. We have a small team and Martin Mooney rode him the last few weeks.
“He’s ground dependent. We have him in again at the weekend but he probably won’t run now. He’ll have plenty of options.”
