After a third place finish in the previous race with Sideshift owner Tim O’Driscoll got on the score-sheet at Fairyhouse when his Fakiera arrived just in time to land the Glenview And Rathbarry Stud Maiden Hurdle.
As was the case with Sideshift, Fakiera is trained by Gordon Elliott and was ridden by Jack Kennedy.
The 15/8 second market choice ‘nailed’ 11/10 favourite Gabynako on the line. After a steward’s enquiry the nose victory was confirmed.
Elliott also had the third, Longacre Square who was forty lengths back, and the Cullentra House operator said: “On his form he was entitled to win a maiden hurdle. He had been placed in a few good races.
“Jack said he'll come on plenty from it and a step up in trip will suit him better.”
The Stewards enquired into possible interference after the last hurdle involving Fakiera (FR), ridden by J.W. Kennedy, placed first and Gabynako (FR), ridden by J.M. Moore, placed second, where it appeared that contact was made between both horses.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings and took no further action.
