Elusive Ivy recorded her fifth career win and first over fences when gaining a last gasp victory in the Sandyford Handicap Chase at Leopardstown.

The Gavin Cromwell-trained mare was well supported on track from 8/1 into 6/1 but only got up in the final strides to deny Powersbomb by a head.

The runner-up can certainly be considered an unfortunate loser as he pecked badly when holding a narrow lead at the penultimate fence.

However he came back on the bridle early in the straight, and led again on the run-in only to be pegged back near the line. Dallas Cowboy was two lengths back in third.

Winning rider Jack Kennedy said, “She travelled well and they went a good gallop but she flattened out a bit just when I went for her. But she’s tough and got there.”
