Calm Bay recorded his eighth career success on his 101st start, taking the Navan Members Handicap under Chris Hayes for Harry Rogers.
The ten-year-old son of Medecis last visited the winners enclosure in June of 2015, and he hinted at a return to form by finishing second at Down Royal last month.
He since finished a slightly disappointing fifth at Bellewstown, and he was sent off a 12/1 chance today.
Prominent throughout, he raced alone on the stands side. He was pushed along to lead over a furlong from home, and he kept on well when ridden inside the final furlong, going on to score by half a length. Sassaway (12's to 10's) ran on well to take second under Declan McDonogh for Eamonn O'Connell, while Mr Bounty (6's to 5's) was a length and a quarter back in third under Leigh Roche for Michael O'Callaghan. Catwilldo (from 11/2) and Your Pal Tal were sent off the 9/2 joint-favourites and they finished fourth and fifth respectively.
Harry Rogers said afterwards: "We were drawn wide so there was no point coming across and losing ground.
"I'm lucky enough that I've had a few horses that have been able to win recently. He's an old horse but has been a great servant."
