Eddie comes late and fast
Morning price punt Lookoutnow made a valiant bid from the front on his first start for Eoin Doyle in the Peter Meegan Memorial Handicap Hurdle but he was ultimately run out of it by the powerful late surge of the Robbie Colgan-ridden outsider Eddie Zero (clipped in from 50s to 40s) at Downpatrick.
The Michael O'Hare yard endured some bad luck in the opener when Henro Boy was brought down at the first and it got no better for them here as their well-backed favourite Arctic Mick blundered and unseated Andrew Lynch at the third last.
Jim Dreaper trains Eddie Zero for Justlite.com, the winning syndicate, who are a Dublin-based company that do stage lighting for all of the big concerts. They have enjoyed success in recent times with the Dermot 'Red' McLoughlin trained-Vics Canvas.
Dreaper said: "He took a long time to come to hand. I'm delighted he's won and he's a fine big horse that jumps a fence well. He had a couple of point-to-point runs.
"Ian Smith, one of the main people in the syndicate, died a few months ago as a young man. Hopefully he had a few quid on in the betting office up above."
