Majestic Paddy (finished 11th) and Siege Of Orleans (9th home) shortened up appreciably in the market from earlier offers, but favourite Eagle Valley certainly didn't go un-backed either, and she deservedly landed the spoils in the Big Bad Bob Maiden at Dundalk under Ronan Whelan.
"She's been a bit unfortunate as she's ran into two right ones here. She's been very consistent," said winning trainer Tracey Collins in the aftermath.
The Mick Ryan-owned Mastercraftsman filly made all on her way to a half length and neck verdict over Perfect Fit and Jimmy Kelly (promising debut).
"It's important to get the maiden win under her belt. She deserved it and it's a pity we had to wait so long but it's done now," added the victorious Conyngham Lodge-based handler.
"We'll keep her on the go over the winter. She's a big mare and hopefully she can improve.
"It's a possibility that she could go to St Moritz in February. That could be the plan."
J.A. Heffernan, rider of Free State (GB), trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount is still very weak and was ridden to finish the race out.
L.F. Roche, rider of Majestic Paddy trained by D.J. Bunyan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly right.
