Dubh takes advantage of Prince's fall
Realt Dubh recorded his third Grade 1 win this season over fences in the featured Power Gold Cup, although there was a degree of good fortune to the victory with favourite Noble Prince falling while in front two out.
The 13/8 favourite had only taken up the running from Mr Cracker and appeared to be travelling well with about a length advantage, when tipping up and leaving Realt Dubh (9/2) with a clear lead.
Paul Carberry 's mount kept on strongly to beat Loosen My Load (4/1) by 11 lengths, with long-time leader Mr Cracker (12/1) a further five and a half lengths back in third. Mikael D'Haguenet never got in a blow in fourth.
Winning trainer Noel Meade said: “The fences are there to be jumped. We'll see how he comes out of this before deciding if we go for the two mile novice at Punchestown. Paul said the ground at Cheltenham was too tacky, and he got caught in it and lost his action. The ground suited him much better today.”
Boylesports make Realt Dubh a 25/1 chance for the 2011 Queen Mother Champion Chase.
