"We've had Carter Mckay and Castello Sforza run in Sheikh Fahad's personal colours (Pearl Bloodstock) but this is our first runner in these colours (Qatar Racing Limited - the Roaring Lion silks)," explained Patrick Mullins after winning the Kilmurry Hardware Ltd, Mullingar INH Flat Race on French-bred newcomer Solindian (11/8 favourite).
Mullins was combining for a double on the card with his father Willie after triumphing earlier with Masons Daughter
By Solon, like the great Solwhit, Solindian was never far away and he asserted in the closing stages to account for Decor Irlandais by two and a quarter lengths.
"He's very laid back and quite lazy at home but every time you ask him he finds. When he got to the front today he wasn't doing much and I think he's better than the bare result," elaborated the winning rider.
"Stepping up in trip is where his future is. A bigger galloping track and slower ground should see him in an even better light. I'm not sure what the plan will be with him."
The Stewards fined Philip Fenton, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Breffniboy (FR), in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91.
The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of horse name in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90 (iv).
The Stewards enquired into the course taken by Miss K. Ferris, rider of Whenurgoodurgood where it appeared the incorrect course was taken and appeared to continue and finish the race.
Evidence was heard from the rider who stated that her mount ducked out and went the wrong side of a direction post, she tried to pull him up but was unable too.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards disqualified Whenurgoodurgood, accepted Miss K. Ferris's explanation and took no further action.
