Ned’s Indian saw out the extended mile and one at Gowran really well under Philip Donovan in the apprentice handicap.
Again this was a race won from the front at the Kilkenny track. Being off the track since March didn’t tell on Ned’s Indian who was full of running in coming home three and three parts of a length to the good at 14/1.
Four longshots filled the placings with Zelos Dream (14/1) second, Farranderry at 20/1 third and 20/1 shot Emma Pavlova fourth in this 16-runner contest.
Sabrina Harty trains the five-year-old gelding and said: “He kept getting sore shins and I’m delighted for the owners who have stuck with him (Edward Power from Wexford).
“He works sweet enough at home and the young lad gave him a great ride.”
Jockey Philip Donovan is 18 and this was his second career victory. He is based with trainer Paul Deegan.
The 9/4 favourite Antiquus with Luke Dempsey in the saddle met interference halfway and finished ninth.
