Distillate and Zig Zag Zyggy gave Ado McGuinness a one-three in the massive field Starman At Tally-Ho Handicap at Naas.
Distillate travelled well for Adam Caffrey who sent her to the front entering the final furlong. She went on in the final 100 yards, but had to withstand a late power-packed finish from Universally who came widest of all.
The 12/1 winner held the 10/3 favourite by half a length. Each-way players drew a dividend from the aforementioned Zig Zag Zyggy (18/1 from 50s in the morning) and Jazzy Dancer (7/2) in third and fourth respectively.
“That's her first time taking on the older horses, I like to try and keep the three-year-olds to their own company for as long as I can,” said McGuinness.
“She's improving all the time and she ran a cracker at Cork the last day in the muck.
“Adam was very good on her. She'll improve again and hopefully the handicapper won't be too hard on her. She's a real fun filly.
“She was actually going to go home after today for a rest and then come back for Dundalk for the winter. We'll see what the handicapper does now and see what happens.”
Distillate's sole other success came over seven furlongs at Dundalk in March.
