Dinky Inty chased down Twist Of Magic inside the final furlong to run out a game winner of the Claytonhotelgalway.ie Handicap at Galway.
Twist Of Magic appeared set to score when travelling strongly to lead turning for home in the seven-furlong contest.
Gary Halpin got a great tune from Dinky Inty inside the final furlong, however, and she got up in the closing stages to record a head success at odds of 12/1.
The Tim Doyle-trained filly had been placed on four occasions this season and won twice as a two-year-old last term.
“I thought this place would play to her strengths. She's real tough and the rain was a help too as she won two races at the back-end of last year on softish ground,” said Doyle.
“She just grinds it out and is very honest. She's all heart.
“She's in here again on Friday night over a mile and if she's good she might come back again.
“The first day she won she was in claimer for €6,000 at Naas. She's never run a bad race and is nearly always in the money.
“It's great to get a winner here and it'll keep the owner happy!”
