Henry de Bromhead saddled a double on the day and his seventh winner of the Christmas period when Mind's Eye claimed the Top Oil Irish EBF Novice Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown.
The Gigginstown gelding was sent to post the 4/1 favourite for the two-and-a-half mile contest and travelled stylishly into contention turning for home.
Davy Russell sent his mount to the front going to the final flight and he had a bit up his sleeve as Darkest Flyer stayed on in the closing stages to get within three-parts-of-a-length.
It was a quick fillip for de Bromhead after the fall of Monalee in the Grade One novice chase earlier on the card.
“It's been a fantastic week, we've had some great results and a double today, obviously a little upset with Monalee but that's all part of it unfortunately. Great to get two winners with two nice horses,” said de Bromhead.
“I'm delighted to get them and delighted for everyone at home.
“I was worried about the trip with him but he did it really well and nobody else seemed to be worried, only me. Davy gave him a beautiful ride.
“He won that of 125 and we'll see what the handicapper does, I'm sure he won't get too much.
“It was nice to see him stay as well as he did there. He's got a bit of pace so we'll see what we do with him now. Any horses that can win there has to be nice.
“We'll see what the handicapper says and what Michael and Eddie would like to do. He's got options which is great.”
