David best on outing two
David Livingston came forward sufficiently from his debut to land the opening Barronstown Stud European Breeders Fund (C & G) Maiden under Seamie Heffernan at the Curragh.
The Galileo colt, fifth first-time out at Leopardstown, 16 days ago, was always prominent in this seven furlong event, he led three furlongs out and he kept on well under pressure in the final furlong to beat the well-fancied debutante Newbury Hall who jointly headed the market with the winner, by three lengths.
Heffernan said of the Ballydoyle-trained victor: "He did it nicely. He is a massive big colt. We raced down the middle and he cruised to the three furlong marker.
"I was confident from there, though when some of them come off the bridle they're gone but he galloped on.
"He felt nice today and the ground out there has dried out incredibly well."
Aidan O'Brien later commented on David Livingston: "He came forward nicely from his first run.
"We liked him before that and he ran well first time when he was very green. He should have no problem stepping up now and he picked up nicely today."
