Chris Timmons made the most of a spare ride on Courtin Bb as he drove her home in the two mile five handicap hurdle at Tramore.
Scipturient opened up a clear lead and was some 10 lengths ahead once he negotiated the third last.
At that stage Courtin Bb and Littlestickarubarb were the two horses trying to chase him down.
They began to eat into the lead and the petrol started to run out quickly on Scripturient so much so that he was headed by the pair at the second last.
Littlestickarubarb was in front from Courtin Bb but the latter found more on the run to the last and took over.
She made a mistake there but still had enough in the tank to keep up the gallop and win by two and a half lengths at 7/1. Sir Jack Yeats did some good late work to come in second at 7/2 with 100/30 favourite Rockey Storm the same distance away in third.
Trainer Pat Duffy said: "She had finished second three times before, it's so hard to win and I'm very happy with her now. She'll keep going now and go for another handicap hurdle.
"I train in Villierstown, near Cappoquin, the same village that the runner John Treacy is from. She'll be out again in two or three weeks time. Her half-brother Courtncatcher will be out on Monday and her full-brother (Brian Boranha) was second today in England."
Timmons was on board because jockey Conor Brassil took a crashing fall from Kilderry Prince in the second race on the card.
