Colls Corner made a winning return to action when claiming the Seamus Mulvaney Handicap Chase at Listowel.
Michael Barry's charge had failed to show much over hurdles when last seen back in March but bounced back to form to record his fifth career success.
Davy Condon produced his mount to lead at the third last and he soon kicked on a few length clear of his rivals.
The Beneficial gelding was asked for an effort before the last and kept on well in the closing stages to record seven-and-a-half length success over Instant Impacked
The winner may not have had attractive form figures on paper but did attract support this morning from 12/1 into 15/2 and was eventually sent off a 7/1 shot on course.
“It's great to get a win at the festival in Listowel,” said Barry afterwards.
“I actually bought him off the jockey's uncle Paddy Condon, from Tallow and that's his fifth win now.
“We're all getting a great kick out of him and he's the family pet.”
Condon was pleased to get off the mark for the week at the festival:-
“He did it well. It was the same as last year – his first run off a break. He's always very good fresh.
“He put it to bed early enough and was very good. It's lovely to get a winner down here.
“Michael Barry is a friend of ours from home in Fermoy. His sister actually taught me at school.”
