The Clonmel Oil Chase Day November 16th Mares Chase flags up the fact that Powerstown Park's big meeting is just around the corner. However, the County Tipperary venue stages a good card in its own right on Thursday. Goulane Davina Emcon and Head Turner are all previous course winners, but they'll do well to match the stand out contenders in the mares chase - Miss Eyecatcher and Shattered Love
Miss Eyecatcher trumps Shattered Love in terms of experience. She must concede 4Ib to Gordon Elliott's exciting type, though.
Shattered Love generated plenty of chat after an impressive point-to-point success at the start of her career.
That augured well for her prospects over the larger obstacles and she delivered in style on chase debut at Fairyhouse almost four weeks back.
Her jumping over the closing couple of fences was notably good then, and no doubt Elliott and rider Jack Kennedy will be hoping that dropping back in trip proves of no consequence.
After a cross-card double on Monday, Elliott is now surely entitled to a decent run after the losses of stable big names, Fayonagh, Mega Fortune and Lucky Pass recently.
On a day when he's also got a couple of runners over at Sedgefield, the Cullentra House handler has plenty of chances through the afternoon at Clonmel.
Himself and Kennedy combine with Isodon in the Cashel Maiden Hurdle. He could struggle in a race where several interesting prospects do battle.
Henry de Bromhead has two in here, and his Trainwreck is owned like Isodon, by Gigginstown House Stud.
The other Knockeen hope, Dicey O'Reilly, is worth watching, if his point-to-point form is anything to go by.
Many good horses have won at Knockanard down the years, and at that County Cork course Dicey O'Reilly impressed when landing his maiden back in February.
The Stowaway gelding has since joined de Bromhead from Mark Cahill. Andrew Lynch will don the increasingly familiar silks of Robcour aboard the five-year-old.
