The Willie Mullins-trained Coole Cherry galloped on strongly at the end of an attritional three miles at Kilbeggan to win her maiden hurdle.

Danny Mullins swept to the front going to the last on the 3/1 shot and she pulled clear on the run-in to record a 10 length win over Charlie's Dilemma

The complexion of the race changed when 10/11 favourite pulled up before the sixth flight.

Coole Cherry had been runner-up in four bumpers to start her career and had also been placed twice over hurdles, including when third at Tramore last time.

The winning rider said:- “She was placed in Naas bumpers which reads quite well and a filly not having a penalty is always a help especially over that distance.

“She has an engine and ground it out well. It’s nice to get the job done and she’ll be a nice one to breed from in the future.”
