Cavalry Master completed a hat-trick over fences and continued Henry de Bromhead’s red-hot start to the new jumps season in the Visit Wexford.ie Novice Chase.
The seven-year-old grey son of Milan came here off the back of wins at Kilbeggan and Killarney and was again prominent throughout.
The 5/2 shot kept close tabs on fellow Gigginstown-owned Star Max before taking a slight advantage at the last, and dug deep for Mike O’Connor in the closing stages to prevail by half-a-length. Turnpike Trip gave it a good go on his chasing debut, with the 9/4 favourite holding every chance before the last eventually finishing another two and a quarter lengths away in third.
O'Connor said, "It seemed a good contest on paper. They went a nice gallop early on and continued to do so the whole way through. I was just getting breathers into my lad.
"He is a tough horse and just puts the head down and gallops. He had a good jump at the last."
