Owned by Mary Doyle and trained by her husband Pat, Mister Bo looked a nice type when making a winning debut in the finale at Fairyhouse, the Ian Smith Memorial (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race.
Ben Harvey did the steering on the Getaway six-year-old, and he was fourth market choice at 9/1 with Elliott and Mullins horses dominating the market.
Elliott’s Kansas City Star (4/5) could manage only fourth place, whilst Mullins’ What Path was fifth. The latter wasn’t helped by shying away from the tape at the start and whipping around losing considerable ground.
Meanwhile Mister Bo tracked the leaders, and he was third travelling well entering the straight. Harvey’s mount went second under two furlongs out, before being ridden to dispute the lead a furlong out.
Leading inside the final furlong the Doyle runner stayed on well under pressure close home to defeat Banjaxed and Desertmore House by three parts of a length and two and three parts of a length.
Harvey, successful on an earlier ride at Farmacaffley point-to-point in Armagh, said: "He's a lovely horse. He's still raw and very, very big and covers a lot of ground.
"I liked that today, he was idling when he hit the front and I thought I had plenty of horse to finish with.
"He has plenty of size. He is a six-year-old and he has taken all this time and I do think he will improve.
"Pedigree says he is going to be a stayer but I don't think he is slow either. I think he is one for the future."
