Trees Valley and Yaiza gave Liam Burke a double at Tramore on Friday and he repeated the feat at the Waterford venue today when Raven Rule brought up the brace under Tom Feeney in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares INH Flat Race.
Again Trees Valley formed part of the two-timer on this occasion, with Donagh Meyler up this afternoon too, and Burke also owns that mare himself.
It’s his partner Mary Tynan Phelan that owns Raven Rule (9s from 14s just before the race and much bigger earlier), and the five-year-old Court Cave mare stuck to the rail up out of the dip to beat market-leaders Erins Benefit and Greenane Lady by five lengths and ten lengths.
Feeney’s son Adam also rode in this event, partnering Dainty Girl to complete at the back of the field.
"I'm all year waiting for a bus and then four of them come together. It's a funny game. It's amazing when horses are in form they run to the line and when they are not, they don't,” reflected Burke.
"She ran well the last day in Ballinrobe, but she was just too keen, he made too much use of her.
“Today he walked the track after four or five races and said that the best of the ground was right on the rail, they were all going wide all day.
“He said I'm going to go around the inner and he saved some ground. In fairness to Tom he gave her a super ride and it's all down to him. He is with me a long time and is a hard worker.
"I don't think I'll try her in a winners bumper, unless the owner wants to try it. I'm not the full boss!"
