The David O'Brien trained Collen Beag is showing a particular liking to the track at Tramore and, having won at the venue on Friday, claimed her third course win in the Richard Power Private Client Betting Handicap Hurdle today.
Jockey Jonathan Burke took the ride on Friday and was again in the saddle today. The pair appeared to have plenty to do jumping the second last but the daughter of Mountian High rallied gamely from the last to beat Do Na Pasti by half a length.
Collen Beag, a winner of four races, has now finished in the prizemoney on all of her nine completed starts (fell once) and afterwards her owner Tony Slattery revealed "I offered her to a fella for E400 quid but I kept her in the end and broke her."
Trainer O'Brien added "that was nice and she is wicked game. Jonathan said she missed the third last so he sat and he knew she'd come up the hill. I'll look for something at Listowel for her now."
Jockey Burke is leading rider at this year's Tramore Festival, with three wins.
