Katy Brown sent out the first winner from her new base on the Curragh when Secret Memories stormed home to land the ICON Apprentice Handicap at Leopardstown. Korbous burst through to lead a furlong from home in the seven-furlong contest and looked set for victory.
Killian Hennessy got a good tune form Secret Memories in the closing stages, however, as she chased him down to secure a half length success.
The 16/1 winner had chased home Focus Of Attention at Fairyhouse last night.
“She was second for us last night. We made the decision to run her again this morning as she ate up last night and came out of the race brilliantly. It paid off,” said Brown.
“That's her third win for me in the last year-and-a-half. I've just recently moved to the Curragh to train and been granted a full trainer's licence. Fingers crossed I can get a few more like her.
“I was down in Myshall in Carlow and we moved up a month again. We have 16 at the minute and about eight empty stables so it would be lovely to fill them.
“She's a great old mare. We'll probably give her a week to get over the two quick runs and see if there is something in Galway for her.
“We might even go back across the water for something. We don't really make a plan with her as she runs how she is.”
