Flatfoot Boogie put in a tough front-running performance to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice Hurdle under Andrew McNamara for Noel Glynn.

The eight-year-old son of King’s Theatre only made his debut at Uttoxeter in June, finishing a well-beaten fourth on that occasion, but he sprang a 16/1 surprise on his next outing at Cork, beating Hilltop Tommy by a length.

Sent off at 12/1 to follow up this evening, he made virtually all, and despite being joined by Bally Longford at the third last, he found more on the run-in to score by two lengths. Lots Of Memories came through to take second at 16/1 under Shane Butler for Paul Fahey, while Bally Longford, who was sent off the 7/4 favourite, finished three parts of a length back in third, after making a mistake at the last. Our Man Zebo was sent off at 5/2, but he could only manage a disappointing fifth, while Supreme Doc was another well-fancied, but he also disappointed, finishing sixth.

Noel Glynn said afterwards: "He’s got a great pedigree. The dam won the Belgian Oaks and there is also listed hurdle and chase winners in France in the pedigree.

"Hopefully he is okay after this and we might get another day out of him."
