Bishopslough galloped on strongly in the closing stages to get off the mark over timber in the Cashel Maiden Hurdle at Thurles.

Danny Mullins, riding for his father Tony, reeled in front-runner Noble Call at the second last in the two-miler and his mount was in control from the final flight.

2/1 joint favourite Rough Justice tried to throw down a challenge before the last but couldn't peg back Barry Connell's charge, who went on to score by two lengths.

The other market leader Do Na Paisti was back in fourth.

The 7/2 winner had chased home the well backed Theatre Mill on his first start over hurdles at Fairyhouse 12 days ago.

“He won his point and ran very well in the point-to-point bumper but I ran him back too quick after that and had to let him off then,” said Tony Mullins.

“He's an improving sort and we might go for a handicap with him. If he can't cut it in handicaps he'll go chasing.

“He won't run again until Christmas. There are no stars in the pedigree so Thurles or Clonmel might be it for him for the rest of his life!”
