Best Kept Secret sees it out well under Ana O'Brien (orange and blue)

There was a real family success in the vaughanshoes.ie Jennings Meats Handicap as the O'Brien's Best Kept Secret just held on under 7Ib apprentice Ana in race two on Ladies Day at Ballinrobe.
Big morning market mover Maknificent (coughing post race) was easier to back on track and she pulled up in the back straight, whilst another 'lively one' earlier in the day, Forever Scotland never threatened.
At the business end Best Kept Secret, bred by Aidan and Annmarie's Whisperview Trading Limited, came out on top over a host of horses that still held chances until late on.
Fran Berry, bidding for a double after his first race win on Wider World flew home from towards the rear on Buzz Off Barroso but the line came in time for Best Kept Secret who was half a length up.
Joseph O'Brien said of the Ballydoyle winner in the aftermath: "We thought he was nicely handicapped. It took a while for the penny to drop with him and it's nice to win with him. He might get another."
S.B. Kelly, rider of Maknificent trained by M.D. O'Callaghan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost her action and was pulled up.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Maknificent, trained by M.D. O'Callaghan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be coughing post race.(samples taken for analysis).
M.D. O'Callaghan, trainer of Maknificent, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to have burst blood vessels on endoscopic examination.
