Ascot next for Clare Glen
Banbridge trainer Sarah Dawson saddled her first winner at the Curragh when Clare Glen benefitted from a well-judged Ben Curtis ride to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap.
Curtis had the daughter of Sakhee in front after a couple of furlongs, and she stayed on really well in the final furlong to justify odds of 11/2.
There was five and a half lengths back to runner-up Plum Sugar (5/1) at the line, with well-backed 11/8 favourite Hurricane Havoc another length and a quarter away in third.
Dawson said: “She just loves racing and I knew she had come on from her last run here. She was in good form and is as tough as nails. We are thinking about the Duke Of Edinburgh next at Royal Ascot.”
