Lenny Flynn recorded his second winner of the long bank holiday weekend (won aboard Revolutionary Road at Tramore on Friday) as he partnered the Oliver Brady trained King Shabra to victory in the last at Listowel, the Dr Louis O’Carroll INH Flat Race.
The five-year-old son of Milan was running in bumper company for the eighth time today and he finished eleven lengths second to De Glebe Star at Roscommon on his last start.
The ground at Roscommon was soft to heavy and he clearly appreciated the better underfoot conditions here as he reversed the form with De Glebe Star who could only manage third today at 14/1.
The Rita Shah owned victory, led under four furlongs out and he went clear into the straight.
His lead was reduced in the closing stages but he had done enough to score by half a length at the line at the odds of 8/1. Some Officer kept on well to take second at 14/1 under Damien Skehan for Tom Hogan while the well backed 5/4 favourite, Ashford Wood could only manage a disappointing fourth under Nina Carberry for Tim Hyde.
The winner was purchased at the Tattersalls Ireland August National Hunt Sale in 2011 for €27,000 and he is a full-brother to the Prunella Dobbs trained Romantic Lead who has two good bumper efforts to her name.
