The Adrian McGuinness trained 10yo Toufan Express recorded his eighth career success as he took the Horse Racing Returns 28th September Handicap under Ian Brennan.

The chestnut son of Fraam was placed at both Leopardstown and Bellewstown in July but disappointed on his last start at Galway in the race won by Gris Ladera.

Sent off at 11/1 this afternoon on his first start for a month, he was sixth at the halfway stage.

He was ridden into fourth two furlongs out before he stayed on to challenge a furlong from home gaining a narrow lead in the last 150 yards and keeping on well under pressure to win by a neck at the line. Cash Or Casualty finished second at 9/1 under Shane Gray for Damien English while the 7/4 favourite Smart And Sharp was a further three parts of a length back in third under Shane Foley for Mick Halford.

Winning trainer Adrian McGuinness said afterwards: "He ran a cracking race here in March and was fourteen or fifteen pounds better off today.

"I don’t know what was wrong with him at Galway but he ran a couple of good races before that.

"We will see what the handicapper does and he might run in Killarney on Tuesday.

"He will then go to Listowel as he likes it there. He is a classy horse and he has won two Premier Handicaps. He had a bit of leg trouble in the early days but I wish I had others like him. He has been a great servant."
