His dam, Kate Emily won nine races, including at this venue, so it was appropriate that Jake Peter (10/1) would land his first race at Tramore, taking the concluding Morris Builders DIY Handicap for Pat Flynn and Gary Halpin.
Kate Emily has already produced the useful Leah Claire, victorious nine times as well, and whilst Jake Peter has a way to go to match those achievements he here stepped up on previous form to here touch off Aa Bee See by a neck.
For owner/breeder Frank McNulty Jake Peter was returned a 10/1 chance after bigger prices had been availed of early on.
"I trained his mother, and she was a lovely mare," reflected Flynn.
"I'm delighted he won for Frank (McNulty) who couldn't be here today, and I'm delighted he won for the yard.
"We were disappointed with Dixie Highway earlier."
Flynn also revealed that he has an important event coming up: "I have a daughter getting married this day week and it's nice to have a winner coming up to the wedding."
D.E. Mullins, rider of Hey Little Boy (GER) trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled.
The Stewards enquired into an incident shortly after jumping off involving Hey Little Boy (GER), ridden by D.E. Mullins, Micras (GB), ridden by K.J. Leonard and Jake Peter, ridden by G.P. Halpin.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that K.J. Leonard was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his excellent record, the Stewards severely cautioned him.
