Following on from his success with Take The Cash at Kilbeggan on Monday evening, Andrew McNamara followed up at Clonmel this evening with Val De Ferbet in the Camida (QR) Maiden.
Now based at Mitchelstown Stud, Athboy, County Meath, former Champion Chase winning rider McNamara 'jocked up' Mark O'Hare on his great servant Val De Ferbet for this extended two miler.
The two in front of him in the betting, Days Without End and Great Trango gave it their all and drew well clear of the rest in second and third but Val De Ferbet came out on top at the finish by half a length and two lengths.
"He is good and tough but has been struggling on the very heavy ground during the winter against jumpers but handled it better than the Flat horses today," said McNamara.
"He is a genuine horse and is lovely to have and will now go to Killarney for the Grade 3 2m4f chase on May 14."
