John Joe Walsh's horses are always worth a look in Limerick and punters certainly noticed Positive Approach s chance in the opening two mile six maiden hurdle.
The seven-year-old gelding was supported this morning from 11/2 to 5/2 before being returned an 11/4 shot.
It was Crocodile Dundee who took the field along before sending out distress signals after the third last. Figurative travelled strongly for Kevin Sexton and eased alongside the leader on the approach to the second last.
He was followed though by Positive Approach and the pair were locked together at the final flight. Positive Approach edged ahead close home to get up and score by half a length under Phillip Enright.
Figurative had to settle for second place at 7/2. The front two pulled well clear as it was a whopping 31 lengths back to Stowaway Shark (14/1) in third.
John Joe Walsh said: "He loves the ground and stays. The bit of experience helped and Phillip knows the horse and gave him a great ride. Staying is his game and he loves deep ground."
