Colin Keane, fresh from his treble at Fairyhouse on Wednesday, doubled up at Dundalk when My Good Brother won the Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Race.
Successful on Beau Satchel in race two, here Keane also came home a convincing winner as the always prominent 9/2 shot eventually prevailed by two and a quarter lengths from Rummaging
"On ratings he was entitled to do that. He was rated only second to Farmleigh House (3/1 joint favourite finished fifth) who hasn't quite been himself," reflected winning trainer Tom McCourt.
The County Meath handler then added: "He loves it around here and he'll probably come back for a listed race in around three weeks time.
"He's a very useful sort of horse. With him liking the surface I might look at England. I might look at the spring series in Lingfield.
"Colin knows him inside out – that's a big plus." "My Good Brother - we jumped to make it and try and control it but Pat (Smullen on Lady Ultra wanted to go along so we sat in and he loved passing horses up the straight and he won well," reflected Keane later on.
"He won a shade cosy I'd say as well. He's a much better horse around here than he is on the grass. He has all winter to come for him around here now."
The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr I. Hamilton, regarding the fact that S.J. Hassett, rider of Master Speaker placed third, weighed in 2.3 lbs overweight after this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had not been feeling well today and after weighing out he drank 2 cups of tea and this must have contributed to him weighing in heavy.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion S.J. Hassett was in breach of Rule 231 in that he weighed-in in excess of 1.5 lbs overweight, and having taken his record into account, they suspended him for 1 raceday. (MG & EM)
