Jazz Girl put in yet another excellent front running display as she took the Roscommon Fillies Handicap under Connor King, providing trainer Andy Oliver with a double on the card (took the first with All Set To Go .
The five-year-old daughter of Johar won the valuable Kingdom Gold Cup at Killarney on Thursday last, and she followed up this evening under a mandatory five pound winners penalty (given five pound by the handicapper for the Killarney win).
She was the 9/4 favourite with Paddy Power last night, but she was friendless on track, and having opened at 11/4, she drifted all the way out to 4/1 joint-favourite at the off.
Drawn in stall nine, she was quickly sent to the front by King and she remained in that position for the rest of the contest, going a few lengths clears a furlong out, keeping on well from there to score in convincing fashion by four and a half lengths. Cin Cin finished back in second under Niall McCullagh for Andrew Heffernan at 6/1, while Catchy Lass (14/1) kept on well to take third just a nose back under Seamie Heffernan for Tony Mulholland. Balmont Belle for Pat Smullen and Tracey Collins, was the other joint-favourite, but she faded in the closing stages, coming home a disappointing ninth.
Andy Oliver said afterwards: "You could run out of superlatives to describe her. She is very tough and honest and Connor gave her a great ride.
"I was very impressed with him at Killarney, and I was equally impressed again tonight. It all looks so effortless.
"She loves that ground and when conditions are right you have to make hay."
Jazz Girl, who is owned by Garrett Freyne, was recording her eighth career success this evening, and her third of 2013.
